Myself and my husband came to this country 5 years ago. We left everything behind to start a new life here, to build a small campsite in this beautiful place and welcome visitors from all over the world. We were accepted and welcomed into the community here and really respect the Maasai and their culture. We slowly became aware of the challenges facing them, especially where the education of their children are concerned. We want to help in everyway we can but we can’t do this alone, we need your help. This has to be a team effort and we would love to have you on our team. Wherever you are in the world there is an opportunity for you to support our work.
Our Vision Is a world in which children from poor backgrounds are equiped and empowered through education, to live with dignity, opportunity and hope.
To this end I am heading the Fisi Camp team who are working closely with the local school, Oloolaimutia Primary, to help as many of the disadvantaged children and their families as we can, to ensure the provision of appropriate, high quality education. The cost of educating a child is just $45 per term with 3 terms in the school year.
The first donations to this project came from Mark & Mandy Follows and their children Hope and Alexandria, from Milton Keynes in the UK. On their recent stay in Fisi Camp they visited the local school, where they exchanged stories with the children. Alexandria who is 6 years old loved talking to the children her own age, telling them about her own school in England. In Mandy’s words the visit to the school was the highlight of their safari, it touched all their hearts. They met with 3 children who were in danger of dropping out of school through lack of finances, these children now have hope, they can continue with their education because of the generous offer of Mark & Mandy to sponser them through school.
This is their stories.
Sylvia is an orphan who is living with cousins but the family couldn’t afford to pay for her schooling, as a temporary measure the headmaster of the school took it upon himself to pay her boarding fees so that she could continue on with her schooling, this doesn’t include any extra activities like sports, drama or music which are an extra cost. However he can’t do it long term as there are others whose needs are just as great.
Esther has no father, she is living with her handicapped mother and 3 younger siblings. Despite her handicap she is trying to support all her children and realises how important education is for them. Unfortunately unless she gets help from somewhere she will no longer be able to afford the school boarding and Esther who is already behind with her education will end up dropping out of school
Tangoi Is a very bright boy and is in a higher level than most others his age. his father died 2 years ago, he was ill for 6 years before he died and the family sold all their cows and everything they owned to pay for his medical expenses so now there is nothing left for his mother to support him and his 6 siblings. Since he is the eldest if he gets an education and a job after schooling then he can help put his sisters and brothers through school, so helping him will help the whole family and hopefully take them out of poverty.
There are many children in this situation, who need help now. Every donation, no matter how small is appreciated. Help me to help these children
